To achieve the objectives of this policy, VIP is committed to managing Health, Safety and Environmental issues following the direction of the following fundamental principles:
 All injuries and loss can be prevented.
 Preventing injuries and loss is good business.
 All personnel have a right to and shall be provided with a safe work place.
 All personnel have a right to and shall be provided with HSE training and suitable PPE to perform their work safely.
 All personnel have the right to cease working in an unsafe environment or with unsafe equipment.
 All personnel have the responsibility to promptly report incidents and unsafe acts/conditions to their managers.
 All personnel have a responsibility to maintain their own safety and the safety of those around them and to comply with all company Policies and Procedures.
 All personnel shall be encouraged to improve workplace safety through initiative and innovation.
 HSE Policies will be communicated to and enforced with all personnel, clients, visitors, sub-contractors and suppliers with whom the company may be associated.

You will read below brief descriptions of some of the procedures.

Health Monitoring
Monitoring of employees’ health will be conducted where necessary to monitor potential new and existing significant hazards to ensure that employees do not suffer adverse accumulative long-term health effects. Post critical event testing will be undertaken where necessary.

Manual Handling
Most back injuries are caused by negligence or violation of basic safe moving and lifting rules.
Painful back injuries, for instance, can be prevented if you first assume a proper position before commencing any lift.
Or, no personnel should lift objects exceeding 25 kg in weight unassisted. For objects weighing more than 25 kg, additional help should be requested to assist in lifting the object.

No Smoking Policy
SMOKING IS PROHITED IN the entire workshop area and all fuel storage areas. “No Smoking” signs in both English and Arabic are to be prominently displayed. Designated smoking areas shall be devised if necessary.

Drug and Alcohol Policy
As part of the collective Health & Safety Management System, VIP have developed a Drug and Alcohol Policy in an effort to protect employees and prevent them being exposed to hazards due to the irresponsible behavior on the part of some of them.
This Policy must be posted in both Arabic and English on all company noticeboards and also appears in the policy section of Manual I of the VIP HSE MS.
Compliance with the VIP Drug and Alcohol Policy is a condition of starting and continuing employment. Any employee found to be in violation of this policy is subject to discipline up to and including summary termination of employment.
An important part of the VIP Drug and Alcohol Policy is the provision of awareness training in the induction program in order to ensure all employees are provided with information currently available on the effects of drugs and dependency.
If the company determines that the prescribed medicine may cause impairment of ability or a potential safety hazard, then the employee may be temporarily suspended from duty.
